Valentine’s Day conjures up thoughts of beautiful boxes of chocolates for your beloved! However, it’s incredibly simple to knock up some Valentine’s Day rocky road which is handmade with love, and will look – and taste – delicious!

Tailor your Valentine’s Day rocky road to your chosen recipient (or recipients!), using their favourite toppings, and you’re guaranteed to impress! You can make rocky road as a gift for any event, selecting flavours and wrappings that suit the theme of your event.

What You Will Need:

  • Good quality chocolate
  • Toppings – I used Turkish Delight, maltesers, strawberries and cream Lindt balls and Ferrero Rochers, with heart shaped sprinkles. Have a wander down the sweets aisle at your local supermarket to see what you discover!
  • Pan to set your Rocky Road in
  • Paper to line tin (if needed)
  • Bowl to melt chocolate in

Step 1. Begin by cutting up your larger sweets into smaller pieces. I left the Lindt balls whole so that they would look lovely when the slab of chocolate was cut up. Line your dish with paper if necessary, or use a silicone tray. Place all of your toppings into the dish.

Step 2. Melt the chocolate by following the instructions on the packet, or by placing the bowl of chocolate pieces over a saucepan of simmering water, being careful to not let them touch. Once melted, pour the chocolate over your toppings and let set, avoiding the fridge if you can.

Step 3. Once the chocolate has set, turn it out of the dish. Using a warm knife, cut slices or squares, and marvel at your chocolatey genius! Wrap with waxed paper and ribbon, or place into a lovely box as a gorgeous gift for the one you love!

Ms Zigzag says: Stop it! Rocky road is my all-time favourite treat- in this form and as an ice cream flavour. Mr Zigzag… I know what I want for Valentine’s Day!
