One of the exciting things about this job is the invitations to events that we receive. We can’t attend all of them for various reasons but when Ms Polka Dot forwarded this one to me my interest was piqued. Now, you all may not know this but I am preparing to jet off to Greece with my family. I’m sure all of you know that it is currently the European summer so this event, which was held at Comme restaurant in Melbourne, came in a very timely manner.

Invisible Zinc has been on the market for around 10 years and was originally launched as the Megan Gale Invisible Zinc. Megan Gale has since moved on and now it’s the equally gorgeous Elle MacPherson who is the face of the product. The range consists of face and body sunscreens, fake tans and even a glycolic cleanser. The thing that makes the range different is the light formulation of zinc based broad spectrum sunscreen which is a non chemical product. This is a great alternative for people that can get irritated by conventional sunscreens and those who like to keep chemicals on their skin to a minimum.

There’s a great tinted moisturizer with a very high SPF 30+ and a gorgeous UV Silk Shield Foundation which also has a sun protection factor of 30+.

I’ve been a fan of the Invisible Zinc range for quite a few years. I love the lighter formulation than your traditional zinc creams (think Shane Warne pre Elizabeth Hurley). What I didn’t expect was to rediscover the traditional reef range too! As soon as you open the bottle, the familiar smell of sunscreen on the beach just puts a smile on your face. The high protection 30+ Dry-Touch Sunscreen Lotion body product goes on smoothly and dries to a powder so no more sticky hands or cream stuck in hairy arms for the guys!

So what am I packing for my trip? The tinted sunscreen, UV Silk Shield foundation and Reef 30+ for the body should take care of me and the rest of the clan!

You can get more information on the Invisible Zinc and Reef ranges of sunscreens at most chemists, department stores and supermarkets.

Polka Dot Honeymoons Directory Mid Banner

Santorini is quintessentially becoming one of the most alluring honeymoon and wedding destinations in the world! The enchantment of this unique Greek Island forms part of the group of islands called the Cyclades. Santorini is the remnants of an enormous volcanic explosion that occurred three and a half thousand years ago. This created the current geological  remains called the caldera with three hundred meter high cliffs on three sides, with a giant central lagoon. These breathtaking features have given the island its overwhelming seductive charm, the combination of its energy, stunning views and perspectives captivates all that visit.

The island has some remarkable sunsets over the caldera, which illuminate the dusting of traditional settlements and white washed hotels along the cliff fringes. Networked by a  maze of narrow lanes and donkey tracks giving a mystical quality combined with the beautiful light and vivid colours, perfect for the kind of romantic settings it is now being recognized for. Santorini offers a diverse variety of locations, from the dramatic black sand and sandstone cliffs to sleepy hill top villages where you will find peace and tranquility. On the west coast of the island, the sheer cliffs of the caldera are brimming with luxurious hotels stretching from the colourful and energetic town of Fira to the more subdued and quaint villages of Firostefani, Imerovigli and Oia lending themselves to hosting that perfect wedding or a honeymoon sanctuary. The sunsets and vistas are sensational due to the natural auditorium suspended high above the ocean and all over the island the iconic blue domed churches are on display giving the island its unique Greek identity.

Many of the hotels are exceptional for couples with their magical caved rooms built into the cliffs often with their own private terraces, plunge pools and infinity pools. They truly ooze romance and walking through the cobbled streets at night with the array of fashion boutiques and high end jewelers, art galleries and crafts one realises how couples can become spell bound and totally fascinated in all that Santorini has to offer. The island is a big magnet from people from all over the world from Australia, USA, China, Japan and Brazil adding to the multi cultural air. With all weddings and honeymoons capturing the moment involves photography and videography, and of course Santorini has had to maintain this service.

If you are looking for a unique honeymoon or wedding destination that truly takes your breath away with mythical Mediterranean charm then Santorini will prove its one of the most romantic islands on the planet.

Ms Gingham says: I have to be honest and admit to some biased here seeing as my descent is Greek. Having said that, I haven’t met anyone who has visited this island and hasn’t wanted to come back. I love the idea of being able to get professional honeymoon photos taken! No more holding the camera in one hand while trying to squish your faces in the frame!

About the brothers: We are Nathan and Ben Wyatt from England. We are residents and have been shooting on the island since 2006. If you are thinking of Santorini as your wedding destination, we are able to recommend the best in reception venues, hotels, hair and make, wedding planners and even florists so reaching the most creative suppliers on the island is less difficult than you may think. It’s a case of relying on ‘inside knowledge’ which will take the stress out of your planning and you will get the very best out of Santorini.

I adore Broome. I think it offers travellers (and honeymooners!) a lot – sand, sun, glorious water, tranquillity, history, culture, adventure… the sorts of things Australians go looking for overseas, but sometimes forget that they can find in their own backyard. So when thinking about what to write about next for Polka Dot Honeymoons, Broome shot to the top of my list quite quickly. It really is a gem of a destination; a place that revives, teaches, inspires, and opens your eyes to the richness of Australian culture.

If I’ve convinced you, or even intrigued you, take a look at Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa. It’s about a five-minute drive from Broome’s centre and offers a range of accommodation options that are all pretty spectacular. You can choose a studio (with a garden, pool, pool terrace or ocean side view) bungalow (set amongst beautifully landscaped gardens), private villa (comes with an enclosed courtyard and private plunge pool) or luxury suite (for the ultimate indulgence and for those who love Australian art, as they are decorated with artists’ original works and with antiques and exotic artefacts). There’s something to suit every budget.

The resort also offers two swimming pools – one for families, the other reserved especially for adults. Imagine taking up a dip in here on a sunny day. Bliss!

There are three restaurants to try out and the menus have been put together to reflect the area’s Japanese, Chinese, Koepanger, Aboriginal and European influences. The resort says, “When cultures collide, the result is amazing cuisine.” We couldn’t agree more. The Sunset Bar & Grill is relaxed and casual, and here you can see the sun set over the Indian Ocean. What an experience! Club Restaurant is an opulent place to try local dishes under the stars, and Thai Pearl is where you go when you’re feeling like a classic Thai curry and fresh fish. It all sounds delicious, don’t you think?

When you’re finished relaxing by the pool and feasting at the restaurants, you can sweat it out on the tennis court, hit the gym, play golf, or go deep-sea fishing, diving or Harley Davidson riding. If relaxation, health and healing are on your mind, you can visit the resort’s Buddha Sanctuary. It’s the perfect spot to sit and contemplate, or you can do a bit of yoga and Tai Chi if you wish! There’s also a spa and salon, which offers pampering for couples in its peaceful retreat.

I highly recommend getting out and about in Broome and the surrounding areas while you’re here too. Luckily, the resort has a dedicated tours desk and the staff is keen to help you get exploring. From camel rides, town tours, pearl farm visits, fishing adventures, scenic flights, 4WD tours and hovercraft rides, you’ll have the time of your life discovering the stunning beauty and colours that make up Broome and The Kimberley region.

So if you’re looking for a honeymoon in Australia that combines discovery, gorgeous vistas, serenity and a sense of fun, you can stop looking because here it is!
