Education is something I never tire of, I’m always reading, always learning- for me it’s vital to the success of my website. I’m always incredibly fascinated by wedding professionals I admire- learning how they got where they are, thoughts that have led them their and their infinite wisdom.

The 21st Century Bride is a conference kicking off in New Jersey on Monday the 28th of March. But this is a conference with a difference- not only can you attend in person. But the entire event will be live streamed, so you can access the amazing speakers, the knowledge, the wisdom without leaving the comfort of third floor Brisbane studio or your Sydney home (and ugg boots).

The 21st Century Bride will feature speakers like Anne Chertoff (Previous editor in chief of Aisledash, Anne has worked on numerous wedding titles like Modern Weddings & Martha Stewart Weddings) speaking on  “Blogging Best Practices”,  Alan Berg VP of Market Intelligence at The Knot speaking on Closing the Sale… The Missing Link” and “Components of a Successful Website”, Amy Wilkins Senior Vice President, Publisher, Martha Stewart Weddings on “Understanding the 21st Century Bride”  among many more.

We were so excited to share the transformation of our Prahran store, from a concrete prison to a bridesmaid boutique with you that we thought there wasn’t much more to celebrate at our Prahran premises. Yet being sane and dull is not part of the Ava Madison genetic make up and after many discussions with various people in our gorgeous industry we all decided an opening night was well over due and as a result we have some new pics to share 🙂

It was a night full of lots of yummy food, gorgeous clients and the beautiful wedding industry professionals who all supported us in so many ways. Each VIP client received a goodie bag filled with cupcake samples by Splendid Servings, a mini wedding planning kit by A Lavish Affair, a gorgeous catalogue from Wedding List Co, a very stylish candy box compliments of A Lavish Affair and some chocolates for those sweet emergencies. We had such a ball chatting to clients and assisting them with choosing colours and dresses for their special day whilst we nibbled on a range of scrumptious sweets, and sipped champagne to the vocals of Peter Thornley, who serenaded guests with his smooth vocals.

Best not to ramble on for too long, which I am prone to doing, and show you the amazing pictures taken by Hybrid Imaging who did a fab job of taking these pics and mingling at the same time, now that’s talent 🙂

Kate Hill Flowers created a gorgeous arrangement of green and white to compliment our Ava Madison colours and spruce up the dessert table.

The delectable candy arrangement compliments of A Lavish Affair with take home candy boxes.

I am addicted to these cupcakes by Splendid Servings – never a dull moment when it comes to flavour and style.

Wedding List Co donated a door prize of two Royal Doulton Champagne flutes valued at $150.

And lastly, we would love to thank Polka Dot Bride and the Polka Dot team for all of their support in promoting the evening.

Ms Polka Dot says: Congratulations to Natalie and Michelle of Ava Madison on your successful VIP night. We were honoured to be just a small part of it!

Feel free to contact Natalie  ([email protected]) at Ava Madison for more information on any of the above suppliers.

Looking for a way to give your wedding a little twist? Want to try something different from the self serve candy bars or even a cake? Want to create an experience your guests won’t forget?  I’ll let you in on a little secret… It’s called a Gelato Cart!

Italian Style Gelato Cart

A beautifully decorated traditional Italian style gelato cart along with a delicious list of flavours to choose from and a staff member to serve it out is a perfect alternative for dessert at a summer wedding. How does caramel fudge with peanut butter sound, or marscapone and coffee, or even a green tea gelato? In the sorbet range forest berries, or limoncello, or blood orange – just a small sample of the many flavours available! There are egg free, dairy free and gluten free options available – so everyone can lick and slurp!

Gelato carts are a cute way to ensure your wedding had a special point of difference that will have your guests talking about your wedding long after the night is over.  With the hot summer Australia has just had, this might be the best idea for your wedding yet!

Themed Gelato Cart

Pierre the CEO of GelatissiMobile gelato carts (phone: 02 9665 8586) tells us that they are a new company who operate in the Sydney Metro area and occasionally in the Central Coast (of NSW) and Canberra. They are a sister company of the well known Gelatissimo which has stores located in NSW, QLD, Victoria and SA.

Buon appetito!

Ms Polka Dot says: Pierre tells us that they have plans to expand the Gelato Cart concept  Australia wide. We can hardly wait! And thank you Whitney for giving us a peek at a yummy idea that is so appealing!

Whitney from La Belle Weddings tells us: La Belle Weddings is a Sydney based boutique wedding planning agency. We are are here to assist brides in turning their dream wedding into a reality whilst saving you time and money.
