So when it comes to your vintage wedding dreams, today’s editorial will fill your head with all kinds of old-world wonder. Set in the beautiful Blue Mountains brings all the art deco glamour of the 1920s and 1930s together with the most stunning arrangements of Australian native blooms – and for that, we could not think of better inspiration to share with you this morning!

The inspiration shoot was the brainchild of floral designer Cass of  Bloom Mountains Designs who shares “We wanted to celebrate a beautiful era of Katoomba and the Blue Mountains. This area is such a popular wedding destination and many of our local landmarks were built in the 1920s and 30s period.
We thought it was a great opportunity to showcase how to use modern fashion, photography and floral designs to achieve a luxurious Art Deco look.”

Setting the scene at the beautiful Avalon Restaurant & Cocktail Bar, our models Emily Hill & Faith Birkett dressed in pieces from Sass and Bide and Lover. Their vintage looks brought to life with the techniques used by hair and makeup artist Weddings by Tania.

Drawing inspiration from real-life 1920s wedding portraits and local historical photographs of the region in the 1920s and 30s, photographer Chris Gray Photomedia captured out “brides” in all their vintage style as they made their way throughout the candlelit setting of the restaurant and bar. The space decked out with rental pieces from Penny Lane Studio, and plants from The Plant Doctor, the styling all pulled together by Trish Scully Designs.

And those Australian native flowers we talked of earlier? Cass fills us in on all the details. “From a Floral Design perspective, I loved the idea of using Australian Native flowers (such as King Proteas, Flannel Flowers, Leucadendron, Banksia, Mulla Mulla and Billy Buttons) in a more refined design style and palette. I aimed to show the different spectrum of colours available to us in native flowers and foliages. Native are not just traditional reds and oranges we’re used to seeing.”

In a world where we’re so pushed to be modern, where we’re always focussed on the next big thing, this editorial’s nod to the glamour of yesteryear, is a cause to stop and reflect on something a little different for your wedding day style.
