Some of my favourite shots from Mel & Nick’s wedding are the relaxed shots in the grass. No posing, just laughter!

A horse joined Mel near the fence for an impromptu (but beautiful) moment.

So many details were handmade by Mel and Nick. The couple wanted their wedding to reflect the earthy nature of Boonah, Queensland where the wedding was held. A photo wall was made with a vintage suitcase of props for guests to use (which made their way to the dance floor by the end of the night!). The seating chart was made with old music scores for “Melody of Love”.

The wedding stationery and placecards were all designed by Nick. His painted designs were printed onto recycled paper and card. Mel spent months in vintage stores collecting the pieces for the wedding- each wine glass was different and tied with vintage buttons and twine. The table centrepieces featured vintage pianola rolls of love songs, candles and mismatched vintage vases filled with local wildflowers picked the morning of the wedding. Favors were herbs in port glasses collected from vintage stores.

After a leisurely Sunday drive, Mel and Nick discovered Vue restaurant at the Boonah Valley Motel. The couple joked that if they were to ever marry their reception would be held there. In planning their wedding, Mel and Nick wanted to share their favourite things with their guests, so Vue Restaurant was a natural choice for the reception.

Mel and Nick danced their first dance to the Regina Spektor version of ‘Real Love’.

Mel and Nick didn’t want any strangers at their wedding, Mel’s mother made the cake, Jonas Peterson was an old friend, the celebrant was Nick’s aunt, even friends took over the DJ-ing of the night!

Congratulations to Mel & Nick on your wedding! I hope your marriage is as much fun as your wedding! Thank you also to Jonas for sharing his work with us!
