I think there is one photo where Kim isn’t smiling, in every other shot she has this smile that is so wide you just can’t help but smile along with her! The rich royal purple tones, the backdrop of graffiti and Kim’s over sized hair flower all add to that really funky vibe of the day.
Eric says “Kim spent countless hours creating the girls bouquets and the boys buttons holes out of vintage buttons (also button holes for each of the parents) Kim’s bouquet and my buttonhole each had a little letter on (K on mine and an E on Kim’s) sewed onto one of the buttons”.
Kim and Eric celebrated with their guests at Malt Bar in Grey Lynn, Auckland.
Eric says of the button themed cake, “The cake was created by Mathew from Icing on the Cake. We had clear idea what we wanted and he seemed up for the challenge. ??Alongside the cake we had Little Lilac Lamingtons that a friend of ours, Marika, specially created in a shade of purple to match the theme”.
The tables were decorated with potted petunias (bought from Kings Plant Barn) which sat in brown boxes from Kikki K to match the purple and brown. Six purple hydrangeas initially hung on the ends of the black chairs hired for the ceremony and then were shifted to the reception and hung behind the bridal table.
Kim and Eric tried a very hands on approach for their reception “The tables were named all different shades of purple, i.e violet, lilac, orchid etc.” Kim collected metres of vintage/retro patterned purple fabric to individually sew each guest a different patterned napkin.
Our favours were in brown coffee bags with hand stamped name tags that held a box of purple Nerds and a fake moustache…which were a hit!” Eric designed the menu layout which Kim hand stamped and put together.
Kim and Eric hired ten crown-lynn swans (seen in this photo) to sit around the reception to mimic the designs on the invites.
The couple and their guests spent the night on the dance floor with their funky sneakers, moustaches and plenty of laughter.
Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us Kim and Eric! Congratulations! Thank you also to Deep Grey Photography for sharing the photographs today!
