When a new designer comes onto my radar, my favourite thing is to dive into their website and pour over each design. I love to examine the way the fabric falls, the textures, the cuts and the inspiration. Sarah Janks has jsut launched her first Sydney collection and I love it!

Sarah Janks hails from South Africa and studied her skill in London, working for designers like Jenny Packham, Cos, Jonathan Saunders and Roland Mouret, Sarah moved to Sydney in 2007 with her husband to enjoy the sunshine and a slower pace of life.

Her first collection (available in both London (Northern Collection) and Sydney (Southern Collection)) is described as “reinterpreting classic shapes with a modern slant and employing traditional couture techniques”. Inspired by an era where romance blossoms into love, Sarah has used beautiful embellishments , fabric pressed flowers, old hand written love notes hidden within the folds of skirts, crystal filled belts and cleverly placed bows.

The fabric use is beautiful as well- gathered backs, pleats, cascading fabric tumbling down the back. Each piece is classic with a touch of whimsy, a touch of style & a touch of romance.
