Tashi and Kristian

Destination weddings make me feel so warm and fuzzy. Perhaps it’s the warm weather, the absolute relaxed feel of the event or perhaps it’s simply because it’s a holiday and a wedding combined (two of my favourite things!) Whatever the reason, Tashi and Kristian certainly encapsulated it when they wed in Bali!

Tashi and Kristian met in London through mutual friends and wed in Bali with the help of Marry Me Abroad in conjunction with Bali Wedding Paradise

Photos today are by Julian Wainwright. I love how Julian captured the fun, relaxed nature of the day with all of the little tropical details and beauty.

Tashi and Kristian held their ceremony and reception at Villa Bayuh Sabbha, Uluwatu. The couple stayed with the bridal party at the resort for the week before the wedding and a few days afterwards.

Tashiwore a gorgeous Romeo Bastone gown with shoes from Jeanette Maree.

The bride chose tropical blooms for the flowers, she explains” I carried closed lotus buds, the bridesmaids had phalaenopsis orchids”

The bride and bridesmaid’s hair was styled by Tashi’s friend Courtney Treyvaud while the makeup artist was organised through the wedding planners.

Tashi’s bridesmaids wore floor length orange gowns from Barbarella Vintage. As a gift, Tashi purchased a bracelet for them from Fiorina.

Kristian and his groomsmen wore an ensemble from Maxi Dupla with Converse sneakers.

Music was an important factor of the day. Tashi explains ” Walking down the aisle we played RHCP – ‘Hard to Concentrate’. Then when signing the docs we had MJ Cole– ‘Be Sincere’, on leaving the ceremony it was Florence and the Machine’s ‘You’ve got the Love’, on re-entering the reception we played Masters at Work – ‘To be in Love’. Our first dance as ‘Spellbound’ – Rae and Christian  and then for the cake cutting we had Empire of the Sun – ‘Walking on a Dream’. ”

Friend Amelia Smith from Elissi Jewellery made the couple’s wedding rings.

Of their photographer, Tashi says ” We found Julian online and were blown away by his photos. We didn’t want just stilted, posed wedding photos and Julian’s photojournalism style was just what we were looking for. He was fabulous. Looking through our photos now it was like he was everywhere at all times. And he was just a lovely guy too. ”

The reception was catered by Bali Catering Company. As favors, guests were given gorgeous sandalwood fans.

Continuing with the importance of their music, the newlyweds hired an band and DJ to keep guests entertained. Tashi says “We had an awesome Jazz band called the Rio Sidik Quartet.  They are world class. And a DJ called Rock Solid,  he got everyone up and dancing. Our first dance was rather impromptu. We had no idea what we were doing but just got down and boogied. Neither of us can dance in a classical sense and we didn’t do any classes or anything. We were just having fun!”

Congratulations Tashi and Kristian! Thank you for sharing your gorgeous destination with us! Thank you also Julian Wainwright for sharing today’s photographs.
