Em and Max

From the moment I saw the wedding of Em & Max I couldn’t wait to share it. Not only has it got every ounce of urban style, but the black and white photography captures nothing but candid, personal moments.

Em tells their story. “We met through university. After four years of friendship, our relationship began (at a flip of a coin; literally) and five years later- got married! ”

Photography today is by Jeremy Beasley who has captured the candid moments and details all together beautifully.

Em wore a wedding gown from La Sposa Fanal while Max wore a suit from Christian Dior.

The day started with a traditional church ceremony at St Thomas Aquinas, South Yarra. Em remembers, “St Thomas was a perfect ceremony venue for us. We were after a traditional church ceremony that was simple and intimate. So we picked the smallest and closest one we could find. ”

The wedding invitations were created by Bella Figura.

Of their photographer, Emily says, “Awesome. Jeremy Beasley is an extremely professional and talented photographer that has uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time to take the shot. ”

Emily & Max held their reception at Alto at GPO. Em recalls Alto was a great setting for a reception that matched our personalities and taste. We love concrete and exposed beams! We did our customary tea ceremony there with family whilst guests arrived. The food and service was great and The Style Co did a great job setting the place up.”

The reception was styled by The Style Co . Emily explains “The Style Co styled the reception venue to match our personalities. Lots of concrete including oversized letters, the cake, gift station blocks, flower blocks, etc. And yellow, like our jeep! They suspended light bulb pendants over the tables which gave the venue a beautiful atmosphere. The outdoor area had paper lanterns, which our guests could write on and leave a tea light in. ”

Guests wrote well wishes on paper bag luminaries.

The reception did have one tiny hiccup, Em says. “Mid way through the reception, we had a fire evacuation, which our guests found really entertaining.”

For their first dance, Em remembers, “We didn’t have any rehearsals and just went for it on the night. We danced to Jack Johnson ‘Angel’.”

Congratulations Em and Max! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you also to Jeremy Beasley for the photographs!
