Jenny and Myles

Classic weddings never go out of style and there is something incredibly beautiful about the traditional elements of a wedding being honoured when they mean something to you. Jenny and Myles celebrated with a Sydney daytime wedding- a beautiful church ceremony, followed by a reception by the water set the tone for a relaxed afternoon of fun and dancing! I always love featuring a wedding after an engagement, so start the story at the beginning and pop over and see Jenny and Myles’ engagement photos here.

The couple tell their story. “Myles and Jenny came across each other in July 2011 while walking their dogs Rambo, Cindy and Bub at their local park. Jenny and Rambo had lived down the road from Myles, Cindy and Bub for the last 5 years before meeting. Myles and Jenny with their furry friends continued to bump into each other for some weeks. Before you know it they were inseparable and then after 3 months, Myles proposed. The happy couple celebrated their engagement with a trip to Tahiti. They wed exactly a year later.”

Photographs today are by Sarah Story Photography whose classic, elegant captures perfectly suit the style of today’s wedding.

Opulent Garden created the floral arrangements, Jenny remarks, “The flower arrangements (bouquets, ceremony displays and reception table displays) were so beautiful.”

Jenny chose a dress by Oanh Ma Couture remarking, “I forgot to pick up her wedding dress the day before. Fortunately my dressmaker Oanh Ma rang to remind me!” Her bridesmaids wore purple gowns from Karen Millen London. Something a little different? Jenny and Myles got ready together at their apartment.

As for how the couple found the makeup artist Absolute Makeup? Jenny tells “Myles took me to a wedding expo where they found we found our florist and makeup artist. Both suppliers unknown to the us. It was soon discovered that the makeup artist currently resides in the Myles’ former family home. We knew we had to go with her from the spooky coincidence. Of all the houses in Sydney she had to move in to his old house – such a small world.”

Jenny had always wanted to marry at Kincoppal School Chapel with a traditional Catholic ceremony and followed her sister also married at the school a few years earlier. Jenny recalls, “We felt very privileged and special that the chapel organ was recently restored in time for our wedding after decades of not being in use.” Jenny walked down the aisle to Pachabel’s Canon in D.

Jenny remarks “My veil was cathedral length and on the day there was occasions where it was breezy – some of my favourite photos are of the veil flowing in the wind.”

The Boathouse Glebe set the scene for the waterside lunchtime reception, Jenny notes. “Myles chose The Boathouse on Blackwattle Bay for the reception as it is a much-loved restaurant for ourselves and our families.”

For their first dance, Jenny changed into a short cocktail frock. She remembers, “Our first dance was to two songs combined into one. The dance starts off with a slow wedding waltz to ‘She Makes My Day’ by Robert Palmer then it finished off to a fast free style and shuffle to ‘Party Rock Anthem’ by LMFAO.”

Okay, in fairness, I am totally biased towards city weddings, but I.LOVE.THIS.WEDDING! Her modern gown is perfectly stunning, and the images with the water and Sydney as a backdrop are amazing! Congrats to the couple and to Sarah Story, your work is awesome :)

The indoors colors and atmosphere is in perfect contrast with all the outdoor environment. Two different aesthetics in one wedding… Just perfect! Thank you for sharing this
