The gorgeous Summer wedding of Sarah and Luke definitely has me lusting for warmer weather again and being a Winter person- it’s not something that often happens! But there is something about the warm summer glow of their wedding day and the warmth that shines through their photographs that has me wanting to don a pretty dress and join them!

Sarah tells their story. “Luke and I are high school sweethearts and met at the tender age of 16. At the time we were both attending private schools in Perth that were in fact brother-sister schools and as a result our schools used to socialise together. We both noticed each other at a party one night and immediately hit it off and have been together ever since!”

The gorgeous, glowing photographs are by Jemma Keech who captures a warm sense of beauty in her photographs.

The day kicked off with whimsical stationery from Mitchell & Dent. Sarah remarks “Our stationery was done by two very talented and creative ladies, Angela and Leah from Mitchell & Dent. After our initial stationery fell through we approached Angela and Leah to create our stationery and the end result was exactly what we wanted and more. From the invites to the menus everything matched to the romantic feel we wanted of our wedding whilst having a unique and personal look. We had so many compliments from guests when they received their invitations.”

Sarah carried a bouquet of peonies by Natural Art By Rebecca Grace. She tells, “Flowers and styling were done by Rebecca and her team from Natural Art by Rebecca Grace. Rebecca is absolutely amazing at her job and produced the most stunning bouquets and arrangements for the wedding. She was incredible to work with and not only listened to my ideas but gave me inspiration and input from her own experience. Whenever we talk about the wedding with family and friends it always gets mentioned how beautiful the flowers were and I have Rebecca to thank for that.”

Sarah chose a wedding gown by Perth designer Aurelio Costarella.

For their marriage ceremony, Sarah and Luke chose The Chapel of St Michael the Archangel. Sarah explaining, “The Chapel of St Michael the Archangel is a beautiful church situated on equally beautiful grounds in West Leederville. It was my sister who mentioned the church to me and I’m so glad she did as it was a lovely church to get married in and created a beautiful back drop for many of our photos.” For the processional, Sarah says, “I walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of Wonderwall by Oasis performed by string trio Les Trois Amies.”

Sarah loved, ” Being able to ride together just the two if us in our bridal car after the ceremony. After the hype of getting ready and the ceremony it was so nice to spend a few moments together between locations to take everything in and have a good chat! ”

Of their photographer, Sarah says, “We had the absolute pleasure of having Jemma Keech be our photographer. I first noticed Jemma’s work when she was the photographer for a friend of a friend’s wedding it was then I knew I had to have her for our wedding when the time came (even though at that point I wasn’t even engaged yet!)  When Luke popped the question it didn’t take me long to contact Jemma and to my luck she was available. I love the way Jemma captures the natural moment in her photos and the romantic feel they have. She was a pleasure to deal with and I would recommend her to everyone! ”

The bridal party was made up of very special friends of the couple .”I was lucky enough to have three of my closest friends who I went to high school with as my bridesmaids including my maid of honour, Jenna who moved to Sydney early last year and did the most amazing job as maid of honour even though she was across the other side of the country. Luke’s groomsmen consisted of his oldest brother as best man and also two of his closest friends who he has been friends with since year one. ”

Sarah’s bridesmaids wore grey gowns made by local designer Steph Audino, Sarah recalls,s  “The bridesmaid dresses were made by a local Perth designer Steph Audino who is becoming one of Perth’s top fashion designers and I feel privileged that she was able to make my bridesmaid dresses. Steph was wonderful to work with and makes the most amazing dresses. I know the girls all felt very comfortable in their dresses and they all looked stunning.”

Sarah describes the day as, “A romantic day filled with love, laughter, good times and all of our wonderful family and closest friends.”

The wedding reception was held at Old Swan Brewery. Sarah explaining, “We chose the Old Brewery due to its location overlooking the Swan River and also because of its proximity to Kings Park which is an area of Perth, Luke and I both love to visit with our pugs. It is also the place were Luke popped the question! The Old Brewery has a great reputation for their weddings and they did not disappoint from the food to the service everything was perfect!”

The tables were decorated with Summer coloured blooms and some sentimental touches, Sarah telling, “As a tribute to my late Nonno whom I was very close with we used wooden toys he had made for me when I was little as our table numbers. I think they went beautifully with the array of flowers and it was a special moment seeing them on the tables and knowing there was a part of him there with us on the day. ” Guests received Glasshouse Candles as wedding favors.

A sweet photobooth was set up by Bride + Groom Store. Sarah recalls, “We wanted an area where guests could take polaroid photos throughout the night using props and then pin them up. With this vision in mind, Tilopa from Bride + Groom helped me make it a reality. It was such a relief to be able to share my vision and then trust that Tilopa would make it a reality on the day and that’s exactly what she did. I remember being so excited when we came through the doors of the reception and saw the table set up and it looked just how I had imagined. The polaroid camera was also a great hit with the guests. ”

For their first dance, Sarah recalls, “Our first dance was to ‘The way you look Tonight’ which was performed live by Rhiannan Longley, who is an amazing Jazz singer that we heard one night at the Ellington Jazz Club in Perth. My sister gave Luke and I dance lessons for Christmas the previous year and they definitely paid off! I was very nervous having to get up in front of everyone on the night, but Luke took the reins and led like a gentleman and the dance went perfectly.”

Congratulations on your wedding day Sarah and Luke! Thank you for sharing it with us! Thank you also to Jemma Keech for sharing today’s images with us!
