The sweet pastels and retro shapes of the 1950s are always fun to draw inspiration from and today’s inspiration shoot comes from a  group of Brisbane wedding professionals about to unveil something big! To celebrate, they pulled together this fun, casual 1950s wedding inspiration shoot with plenty of vintage, retro touches to inspire you!

Photographer Sarzy of Timeless Tales Photography tells,”This 1950’s inspired styled shoot brings together such a talented team of vendors, I (Sarzy, from Timeless Tales Photography) knew from the moment the planning started it was going to be breathtaking although the final product was better than anything I had imagined. This team are some of Brisbane’s most talented creatives and it showed! The uber talented Bec, from Style My Celebration, lead the team. The overall look was her brainchild and she conveyed her vision perfectly to the team. Bec knew that with such a team she needed to draw on the expertise of the very talented vendors… and it paid off. This truly was a team effort and all credit goes to each vendor for their contributions.”

The Pavilion (Allan Border Field, Albion) was the chosen location and it set the scene with the stunning grandstands, beautiful green pitch and of course the white picket fence! The aim was to design a 1950’s-inspired relaxed garden party featuring bright colours and quirky, eclectic pieces and we couldn’t have found a better location! We wanted to maintain a feel of ‘casual elegance’ such as one would have found at cricket matches in older times whilst injecting a dash of modern feel to the styling. Tisa (Moments in Vintage) supplied a number of vintage pieces although the standout Moments in Vintage piece was the custom built wallpapered backdrop that that featured a soft floral and was highlighted with birds and butterflies, this wallpaper became the key element in our shoot design. It was layered throughout the entire setting from stationery to cakes! Venice and Me dressed the stunning little flower girl with the fullest and most perfectly dreamy tutu imaginable.”

Wil Valor has a suit for every style or theme that you can imagine so of course our three piece Scottish tartan wool suit was provided by Wil valour and it tied the entire look together perfectly.”

“Our stationer Jo (Celebration Design Studio) was the clever one who was able to reproduce elements of the wallpaper design for incorporation into the styling and of course into the invitations, tent cards and ultra cute bunting! Jo is always looking for creative, cute and handy designs and she managed to outdo herself by turning the order of events into little fans!”

“Our floral designer Kelly (Bella Bloom Floral Design) pulled out all stops when she created the most incredible 1950’s style floral handbags for the bride and flower-girl, as well as a stunning bouquet for the bride and wrist corsages for the bridesmaids.”

Jennifer Gifford Designs specialises in fabulous handcrafted vintage style wedding gowns and her shorter 50’s style wedding gown (with the lovely and handy pockets) suited the theme to a tea. Our stunning bridesmaids were dressed by Begitta, the bright miss-matched dresses were finished with caplets that really had a vintage feel.”

“Amanda (Adorn Event Hire) was the perfect choice to style and supply the informal table setting. The table had such a casual elegance with a floral duck egg blue runner and napkins, bright gingham ribbon, pastel 50’s lustreware vases and rattan charger plates, then finished by using more formal darker brown tiffany chairs with fun pink cushions. Inspired by the gorgeous ceremony backdrop the floral and bird motif was carried through to the parfait glasses and onto the table number – a simple but effective sticker label on a glass water bottle.”

“We had fun with the florals using pastel tones but adding in a punch of hot pink. And Adorn Event Hire’s blue parrot made its debut as a quirky prop sitting pretty on the lolly buffet. Sherie (The Flour Girl) surprised us all with her deconstructed wedding cake, the modern and the classic so perfectly combined! The cake (or cakes!) was bright and fun and of course with one tier perfectly matching the floral backdrop. The cake table was completed by Jocelyn (Memories are Sweet) who offered perfect white vessels and colourful candy!”

“Makeup artist Holly (The Glamour Bar) is one of the best so of course knows how to create the modern equivalent to most historical styles so she created the perfect look for our bride and bridesmaids with both hair and make-up.”

“Lisa (Lisa Daniels Design) researched traditional 1950‘s styles and created the perfect 1950’s inspired modern jewellery for both the bride and bridesmaids.”
