Straight off the back of our Wedding Food Trucks & Carts In Victoria post, we’re hitting up Adelaide for the best food trucks and food carts in South Australia that can show up your wedding, delight your guests and leave them with full bellies! We contacted every food truck we could find, and here’s what we got served up!
Kicking us off is vintage style traveling cafe Myrtle & Mae, this sweet little caravan offers coffee, canapes and sweet treats for private functions. For something hot (winter wedding ready!) they can serve for three to five hours with locally roasted coffee beans, hot chocolate, chai tea and Barossa Valley tea leaves. (Beverage packages start at $300 for one hour including 50 drinks).
Their canape and sweet treats (brownies and cakes!) packages start at $18pp for a light refreshment package through to the $30pp for the more extensive beverage, canape and cheese paddle package. Myrtle & Mae don’t just offer the van either, they even have an event coordination service!
La Chiva, Adelaide’s South American street food truck. They’ll customise a menu to suit your function- serving treats like yucas, chivitas, pastelitos all using organic meats, The food packaging and truck decor can be customised to suit your wedding style, staff on hand to serve your guests, and the truck can even arrange music, dancers and a live band to kick the party atmosphere up a notch.
Low Slow American BBQ offers two function options from their American BBQ style menu. With favourites including pulled pork, beef brisket and other slow cooked meat delights, they have the most delicious cuisine for a casual gourmet BBQ style celebration. Prices start at $12 per person.
Mobile cupcakes. Do I really need to say anymore? Cupcakes Please serves decadent cupcakes that would make for a delicious post ceremony treat or as a surprise dessert option. They can create custom cupcakes to your own wedding style and theme and offer cupcake towers and giant cupcakes too!
For something good and plenty, Burger Theory cooks to order and can feed 100 people per hour. On the menu are burgers, burritos and hot, crispy fries. They have a minimum send of $1700 (for a $17 per head menu) and a travel fee if the location if outside 20kms from the CBD.
ChimiChurri Grill offers a catering menu. Their chimis range from the spicy chorizo to steak and cheese options for the vegetarians. They have a three hour minimum serving time, with 90 minimum meal orders with a cost of $15 per person (all including a main meal with beer battered chips).
Dessert is always on the agenda and ChurrOz offer their decadent churros with chocolate or caramel dipping sauce. They offer three standard churros (the traditional, the tempting (topped with a variety of sauces including a peanut butter option) and the filled churros) or the limited edition version dipping (complete with sauce) or cabaret (a serving of four with strawberries, marshmallows and two dipping sauces).
Chimney Cake Station are famous for their Hungarian street food chimney cakes! They even offer coffee and cold drinks (could be wonderful for an afternoon tea wedding!). The chimney cakes are freshly baked onsite (oh the smell!) . The glazes and coatings (cinnamon, sugar, caramel…) make my mouth water! Private event fees start at $600, though the team customise each package based on distance, needs and guest numbers. They can even serve other desserts and coffee for your guests!
There is nothing better than an ice cream on a hot Summer day and surprising guests with a cart like the Royal Copenhagen Icecream Cart might be just the ticket for keeping them cool and hydrated for the celebrations to come. They can cater for up to a thousand people and can serve up to six flavors of icy deliciousness (including creating a custom flavour just for you!). The team provide a staff member to serve (for up to three hours). Pricing is based on your numbers- from 50-100 guests starts at $900 and raises to $2300 for 500+ guests.
Tacos are my happy place so I was delighted to find a taco food truck in Adelaide! Tacocat Their suggested menu? Three tacos per person, a side of nachos AND they can make Mexican wedding cookies for dessert! The menu can be altered for vegetarians and vegans and the tacos are gluten free!
If you want something completely different then Raw Thirst’s fresh, delicious beverages. They are 100% vegan serving fresh, organic juices, smoothies, coffee and tea. Nothing is added to the drinks- just pure, fresh fruit and vegetables. For something a little extra they also offer raw vegan bars and muesli bowls. I love this truck for s breakfast wedding! They have a $750 minimum spend (which can serve about 125 drinks over a two hour period).
Delectaballs make the best meatballs out of a truck in Adelaide! The menu constantly changes- offerings in the past have included pork, vegetarian options and even tapioca cheese balls. Sliders with fresh ingredients, and tastiness like crispy pancetta and cheese sauce are favourites. For private functions, their minimum spend is $800 which allows for a menu of a meatball slider, although the crew will tailor the menu to suit your event.
Gelato Bella Gelato Cart is all about the freshest Italian gelato. The Gelato Bella crew will even deliver and setup the cart for you!
Papas Hotdogs is not your average hotdog truck. With a build your own hotdog philosophy, first you pick your crispy bread option, then your gourmet sausage (options include German bratwurst, Australian wagyu, English pork and Thai chilli chicken amongst others) then your topping (onions, cheese, homemade slaw and salsa) and then finish with a delicious sauce- something like garlic or Coopers Ale BBQ sauce might do the trick?
Function catering starts at $15 per person for fries and a hotdog or $16 per person if they add a drink. They’ll serve your guests for three hours with a minimum spend of $1200.
Although not exactly a food truck (more of a food stall), I needed to include the delicious mobile catering from Dirt(y) Inc caters private functions with a menu devised by a chef. Focused on best local, ethically and sustainably produced food. Functions start at $1500 for a three hour period
