Scott and Carissa

One Monday 24th November 2014, my now fiancé Scott awoke me at 6am sitting on the edge of our bed playing me a love song, “I Love Loving You” by Savannah Packard. To my surprise, Scott was not wearing his usual work uniform and instead leaned in to give me a kiss and whispered to me that “today is the day”. Sitting on the bedside table was a printed itinerary and a single pink peony in a vase (my favourite flower of all time), and hanging in front of our bedroom window was a brand new watermelon maxi dress that Scott had purchased me.

My day was filled with appointments that Scott had made and prepaid for me. First I was off to the salon, where I had my hair done, as well as a manicure and pedicure. During my time at the salon, Scott had organised for a local cafe to deliver me a large skim milk cappuccino (my choice of coffee!) for morning tea and then a hot lunch. Following my salon appointment, I was to have my make up done at Napoleon Perdis.

As per the itinerary I was provided with, I returned home to dress and at precisely 3pm a white Bentley arrived out front to collect me and drive me into the city to the Park Hyatt, Sydney. Upon arrival, I saw Scott, standing in the middle of Hicksons Road Reserve next to the Park Hyatt, at the end of an aisle made of white rose petals. The minute I stepped out of the car, the rain came pouring down, but neither of us cared one bit. I walked up the end of the aisle of rose petals to my love, and it was there, in the pouring rain, that on bended knee, Scott asked me to marry him. “YES” was of course my answer without hesitation. Scott presented me with a 1.5 carat emerald cut diamond ring, a ring that he had designed and made by a local jeweller.

If all of this wasn’t enough, following all of this, Scott pointed towards the Park Hyatt and to my surprise there was a photographer and a videographer to capture the whole thing. But not any old photographer, Scott had organised with my all time favourite wedding photographer, James Day of Daylight Photography to photograph every moment… and his work speaks for itself. These are just some of the images that James captured on the day, as well as a link the video from the amazing videographer, Max of Big Day Of.

After taking an hour to have some posed shots, Scott and I said our goodbyes to both James and Max, and returned to our suite at the Park Hyatt which we were to spend the evening. Upon entering the room, my eye caught a large black box sitting on the crisp white linens on the bed and instantly I knew, Scott had purchased me a brand new Chanel Bag and Chanel Wallet, a gift that I have longed to own for many years.

The rest of our evening was filled with champagne, a three course meal that Scott had arranged with the Head Chef of The Dining Room in our suite and phone calls of celebration to all of our loved ones.
