These sweet trinket dishes are made from kraft box lids, can you believe it? And don’t worry, I have a post coming up soon with a use for the kraft boxes as there is no wastage around here!

All you need is some enamel paint in your fave colours and you will have yourself a pretty dish which will hold your rings, earrings and bracelets in no time.

A note for the control freaks like me, the paint will swirl how ever it wants to so you just need to embrace the randomness of the patterns that are created.

You will need:

  • Kraft box lids. I picked these boxes up at Spotlight but any craft store should have them.
  • Test pots of gloss enamel paint. Grab these at a hardware store. Shake the paint well before using.
  • Disposable spoons.
  • Paint brush.
  • Paper to paint on.
  • Mineral turpentine for cleaning.

Step 1. Working in a well-ventilated area, spoon the paints into the lid and swirl around to coat the base and sides. I went with three colours but you could easily use more or less. The lid will take quite a bit of paint so don’t be afraid to add more.

For a more simple pattern like the round dish, add one colour first and swirl to coat. Then add large splodges of the other colours and just gently swirl.

Step 2. You can add more splodges of paint as you go if you decide you need a bit more gold here, or a bit of lavender there.

Step 3. Leave overnight to dry on paper.

Step 4. Turn the lids over and paint the back and sides with two coats of paint (I just used white here), leaving to dry overnight each time.
