Metallic Bronze Wedding Makeup Tutorial

I am so thrilled today to bring you the first of the step by step makeup tutorials from our Modern Bridesmaid Inspiration With Greenery shoot. We worked with an amazing group of vendors to bring to life bridesmaid inspiration that combined all of our favourite loves.

Cooler weather calls for deep, beautiful tones and we were inspired to choose jewel-toned gowns for our “bridesmaids” and using rich metallic shades for a glamorous and Wintery makeup look. To bring it all together, our bouquets and garlands of greenery added a sense of organic beauty to the space which when coupled with copper chairs and a cement table, brought our dream to life. We chose the beautiful  The Refectory & Drawing Room  at the University of Sydney – enchanted by the incredible mural and deep wooden tones of the space.

Today, makeup artist and hair stylist extraordinaire Amy Chan gives us all the details to create this look for your next special occasion.

Amy worked with our dream team that included photographer gm photographics our fashion stylist and shoot coordinator Katherine Eleyce, model Christina Sergi , stylist (including florals and stationery) Form Over Function. Our model Christina wears a gorgeous gown from Bridesmaids Only  with accessories by Sollis, Fletcher and Grace, Rubi Shoes and Wanted Shoes,

Step One

For our model’s base, we prepped the skin with MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime and then  chose the DMK Cosmetics Foundation in Olive. This foundation has very high coverage that gives the appearance of glowing skin and covers any imperfections.

Step Two

For our metallic bronze eyeshadow look, our palette of choice was Charlotte Tilbury “The Dolce Vita” Eyeshadow Palette. Apply the champagne tone all over the lid up to the brow bone with a soft fluffy brush. Next, work the metallic brown colour on the outer third of each eye, then blend upwards until the colour is seamless.

Step three

For the glam look, we chose Eye Of Horus Liquid Define in Black and created a gentle wing on our model’s eyes. The softer tone of Avon Glimmersticks in Cosmic Brown along the waterline gave a smoked out look.

Step Four

We wanted to give the look a bit of a glamorous edge without being too dramatic, so we applied Eylure Lashes in No. #100 (available at Priceline). The lashes have plenty of fullness while still looking natural.

Step Five

Next up, we concealed any spots and blemishes by using the DMK Cosmetics Blue Corrector in #2. This corrector hides dark circles and covers any spots or blemishes.

Step Six

Powder the look to absorb the oils on the day (we chose DMK Cosmetics Loose Setting Powder in Clear) or for this step, if you want to add a little more definition, we used DMK Cosmetics Loose Setting Powder in Translucent on the bottom of the cheekbone and side of the nose to add depth.

Step Seven

Highlighting is key for this metallic glow and we chose the beautiful champagne pink of The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer (Available at Sephora), applying it over the cheek bones, temples, chin and nose.

Step Eight

For a beautiful pink, peachy glow, we used It Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Ombre Blush in Je Nes Sais Quoi (Available at Sephora). Apply this to the apples of the cheeks and blend up.

Step Nine

A neutral pink lip was our pick for this metallic look – to let the eyes shine! We used the soft pink tone of Clinique High Impact Lip Colour in Pink Style #22.

Step Ten

Our final finishing touch? The iridescent sparkle of Elizabeth Arden “Sunset Bronze” Limited Edition Lipgloss in Prism which added just a little shine.
