You may have discovered the Polka Dot Bride team loves to make our hot chocolate with a bit of an edge because we believe that Winter is amazing (it’s not far off now!) and that serving your guests something warm may just be the most special treat.
We do love a spiked hot chocolate but we’ve added a little flavour of the season to this Spiked Spice Hot Chocolate recipe we devised – after all, what says cooler weather better than spices and chocolate in one?
- 1/3 cup chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
- 30 ml Spiced Rum (we use Sailor Jerry)
- Whipped cream
- Shaved chocolate
In an ovenproof bowl over a saucepan of water, melt chocolate chips with milk and vanilla bean paste, whisking to remove lumps and create a smooth liquid consistency.
Remove from stove and whisk in spiced rum.
Pour into a mug and add whipped cream and shaved chocolate.
