At Fat Cats Van, we’ve catered for a multitude of weddings and other events in and around Melbourne and we truly love collaborating on unique menus to suit your event and budget. Running an event smoothly is second nature to us (we love it!) – here are a few of our “tips and tricks” that we like to chat about with clients when they are making a booking.

What mistakes do we see couples making which impacts on them, or on us?

Not having a clear vision of the style of wedding they are wanting, initially can make menu recommendations a little tricky (e.g., cocktail, sit-down, casual, super formal) – so really thinking about that first is super helpful for couples and for us! But we’re super keen to help couples iron out those details.

How do we guide couples to help them make decisions about their bookings?

We chat about their budget, what kind of vibe they’re after, the location and available facilities (which is particularly important with a  food truck – for example, if there’s a kitchen available we can really amp up the fancy in fancy catering!) We like to communicate on the phone and via email to make sure we have a paper trail of what we have discussed.

We like to direct people to the menus listed on my website, and we provide really clear information about all the different options they could go for with each and prices to match (e.g., served from the van, served cocktail, buffet or shared plates) and the pros and cons of each. We make food recommendations based on their preferences, and tastings are another great option where we can really nut out the plan and the best menu possible for their special day.
