Kylie & Chris

A beautiful wedding from regional Victoria for you this afternoon- the Grampians to be exact! I am completely in love with Kylie’s wedding gown and the cake? Well I could certainly take a big fat slice right now! Our city couple returned to the country for a country chic wedding!

Our newlyweds Kylie and Chris met at work, but it took over three years after meeting to finally decide they should go out for dinner – the rest is history.

Chris proposed on the beach, Kylie recounts, “Walking our dogs on the front beach of Torquay (something we do each time we are at the holiday house), Chris asked me if I would do something for him today. I was thinking Chris was going to ask her to do a job/chore later in the day, said OK – what? Chris responded with, I would like you to become my wife. Of course I responded with yes and a kiss. I think he asked me in knee deep water to prevent him having to get down on bended knee!”

Photography today is by Infinity Photography. The team at Infinity always captures a wedding with elegant grace. Photographing the moments, the beauty and the joy in a beautiful way.

Kylie and Chris were married at the Mt Sturgeon Estate Homestead.

Kylie wore a silk & tulle gown hand beaded with glass beads and pearls by Gwendolynne. Stems Flower Market created bouquets of cream country roses and lambs ear.

Kylie and Chris chose to have their wedding in the Grampians overlooking a stunning view. Kylie says “When visiting the Mt Sturgeon Homestead, it was difficult to decide on where to have our ceremony. The view of the homestead was great, but the view of the towering Mt Sturgeon was amazing. In the end, we decided on the lawns out the front of the homestead, which enabled us to be married with views that captured both the Homestead and the natural beauty of Mt Sturgeon. After the ceremony, all guests enjoyed canapes, champagne and croquet.”

Kylie walked down the aisle with her father to “The Wedding” by Aldullah Ibrahim played by the Gavin Franklin Trio.

Kylie’s bridesmaids wore one shouldered taupe coloured gowns from Stellini Boutique.

The couple’s stationery was designed by Paper Marc.

Guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the verandah of the homestead with croquet!

Kylie and Chris celebrated with guests in the woolshed at Mt Sturgeon Estate. With chandeliers and fairy lights hanging from the wooden rafters of a working woolshed, a crisp table setting and crystal candlesticks, country and city styles merged seamlessly. A location to die for, good food, great wine, live band playing, surrounded by family and friends everything a bride and groom could wish for. Table linens were provided by Table Art.

Kylie’s favourite memory was the ambience of the day. “Great food, good wine, amazing location with loving family and friends. But most of all, knowing that the person in front of you is the right one for you for the rest of your life.”

Guests signed a larger version of the wedding invitation as a guestbook.

In lieu of a traditional wedding cake, Kylie and Chris had stacked wheels of cheese  from Emerald Hill Dell (including Le Delice Brie, Valdeon Queso Azul Blue, Figaro Goats , Maffra Chedder and Swiss Appenzell) decorated with vines and muscatel grapes.

After the night was over, having left the guests at the woolshed, Chris and Kylie sat on wooden picnic table, outside their bluestone cottage, sipping champagne, with a blanket to keep them warm, listening to the glowing comments coming from the guests leaving the reception – “most couldn’t stop talking about our cheese cake and the amazing location”.

I love the bride’s dress. It’s so unique. The top detail is just stunning. I haven’t seen anything like it and I’ve seen a lot of wedding dresses recently on my own search for a gown.

That dress is absolutely stunning on this bride and this venue looks so unique. The inside of the reception area is so rustic yet mixes so well with the elegance of everything.

I love the dress and the style like everyone else, however I just can’t go past the scenery. As a Wimmera girl myself, I felt instantly homesick as soon as I saw the Grampians. If you haven’t been there, you’re doing yourself a diservice – it’s magnificent.
