Marika and Jamie

Marika and Jamie married in one of my favourite parts of the world with a wedding so full of colour, so full of life that I know you will fall in love with it as much as I did.

Photos today are by the late Jonno Howell. Jonno, in his tragically short life posed such a lot of talent- the photos he took of Marika and Jamie’s special day are filled with sparkle, love and capture the vintage country party feel they wanted so beautifully.

Jonno tragically passed away earlier this year and our newlyweds wanted to share the photos of their wedding with the world as a tribute to his amazing life.

Marika, who owns a vintage party hire business called A Vintage Party (founded after her own wedding day) designed the invitations herself. Marika even found and hand pressed each four leaf clover!

The couple were married at Newrybar Community Hall. Marika walked down the aisle to “Billy” by Bob Dylan.

Marika wore a beaded blouse from Alannah Hill along with a customised vintage skirt, she carried a bouquet of simple white daisies. Jamie wore a vintage suit paired with a gold bow tie he made himself.

When asked to describe their wedding in a sentence, Marika says it was “A country wedding with a bit of vintage and a lot of love.”

Following the ceremony, guests hopped on “The magic bus – A psychedelically painted double decker bus that took all the guests from the ceremony to the reception.”

The couple held their reception at the A&I Hall in Bangalow.

The couple DIY’d as much as they could for the wedding day. Marika created vintage place cards for the guests and the couple also created a personalised cross word to keep guests entertained.

There was plenty of family help for the day Marika says “Our mums made all the wedding cakes which were just decorated with simple fresh flowers.” Marika collected vintage crockery, jars and for the guests to use and to decorate the reception. She says “The night was spent eating and dancing.”

Congratulations Marika and Jamie! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us today on Polka Dot Bride!
