Molly and Nic
There is nothing like a stunning beachfront wedding to gear us up for a week of wonderful weddings! Our newlyweds Molly and Nic had the most beautiful day overlooking the beach in Noosa. They love escaping to the Sunshine Coast from Brisbane every chance they get so it was the perfect play to revel in wedded bliss together.
Molly and Nic both share their favourite moments of the day, which I will share with you throughout their wedding story, but Molly’s first note seemed appropriate to kick off this entry. “What can I say – I married the man of my dreams! This is the one thing which made me beside myself with excitement leading up to the big day. The beauty treatments, dress, shoes, flowers etc were all wonderful and lots of fun to do; but at the end of the day I didn’t care how I looked or whether things went to plan at all … I just wanted to say ‘I do’ and “become the Mrs to my Mr. “
Photos this morning are by Jodi McDonald. I adore Jodi’s sweet captures – the candid smiles, the light filled images which are just so beautiful to look at!
Nic loved the moments leading up the wedding, “The anticipation and remembering how happy I felt the night before our wedding day. I had a quite night on my own preparing for the day and was just so happy and excited for the following day!”
For her wedding day, Molly chose a gown from Maggie Sottero destinations collection. Her bridesmaids wore latte coloured bridesmaids gowns from Bari Jay. The creamy white floral arrangements wee styled by Splash Events. Molly remarks, “The bride was a little too relaxed with some details, however Splash Events (decorators) came to the rescue with one week to go, providing gorgeous vintage inspired ivory roses and buds”. Pru Edwards styled the girl’s makeup and Evalyn Parsons styled their hair.
Molly and Nic held their wedding ceremony at 9.30am. Molly explains “We chose a morning ceremony because we knew that on the day we couldn’t wait!”
The couple chose Maison La Plage on the Noosa Heads beachfront for their ceremony venue. Molly explains, “We chose Maison La Plage initially for it’s beauty and location, and sealed the deal when we saw the French name for the beautiful beachside grove as Nic is half French. It was easy to narrow our choice down to Noosa.
Molly and Nic made sure to put their own handmade touches on the day, Molly explains “This was really important to us as it was a really fun part of our wedding journey; and it allowed us to source and organise some really unique aspects to our day. We did the following ourselves: invitation compilation, favour compilation (beeswax candles, bamboo coasters, tree of life charms and seeded plantable paper gifts), birdseed packets to throw at the ceremony, table place cards and table names, seating plans and other small decorations.”
Molly remarks, “A very significant part of the day which I’ll always hold close to my heart was hearing Nic’s ‘special words’ during the ceremony. We each wrote our special words separately so it was a real thrill to have that surprise on the day – his words were so powerful and full of sincerity… I’ll never forget them”. The couple were married by celebrant Bill Scurry.
The couple chose a lovely style for their wedding day. Molly explains, “We borrowed inspiration from a few themes so it was a hybrid of Eco-friendly, Vintage, Natural and French. I think this is shown in a lot of the photos, from the decorations to the bridal party gifts to the food on the table. For anything we didn’t have the (…let’s face it) talent to make, we sourced suppliers using Etsy which was also really wonderful as we spoke directly to the creative/artist.”
The guests and the bridal party traveled Noosa River in a boat from Catalina to the reception venue Ricky’s River Restaurant and Bar. Molly says “Although we hadn’t eaten there prior to booking it, Ricky’s River Bar and Restaurant has had so many positive reviews and fitted with our theme so well. They were so accommodating with sourcing local produce and some of our guests’ dietary requirements.”
The speeches were one of Nic’s favourite parts. “The speeches from my father and Molly’s Grandad were so inspirational and from the heart.”
The couple chose a wedding cake from Ideas in Icing.
The invitation designed by Molly’s talented bridesmaid Jen Halpin of Gray Boulevard and letterpress printed on cotton paper by Artisan Press. The pocketfolds and inserts made from 100% recycled and tree-free materials, were designed and printed by bride and groom.
For their first dance, Molly recalls, “We did a samba to Pearl Jam’s ‘Just Breathe’ though we only had time for three lessons… so we did our best… but most of all, we had so much fun attempting it!”
