Sean and Katherine

Sean and I had a clear vision of our perfect wedding. We always adored the old world charm of vintage, the relaxed vibe of rustic, and the ancestral connection of traditional themes. I believe we jelled these themes amazingly and this reflected in the atmosphere and happiness of our day.

On the morning of the wedding, our emotions were polar opposites. Sean was flustered, anxious and nervous. Whilst I was cool, calm and collected. I guess this is what makes us such a great couple; the ideal yin and yang. But despite feeling so different on the inside, on the outside we agreed that getting ready with close friends and family was a memorable part of the day.

I think I was the first bride in the history of brides to arrive on time! I knew Sean would be nervous and I didn’t want to keep him waiting any longer than necessary. We got married in the chapel at Tatra Receptions in Mount Dandenong. The grounds were magical and the service was impeccably high. I couldn’t recommend this venue enough.

I walked down the aisle to Your Hand In Mine by Vitamin String Quartet and my bridesmaids to Renesmee’s Lullaby by Global Stage Orchestra. It’s fair to say there wasn’t a dry eye in the house; including my husband’s. It was so sweet to see him react the way he did – even though he was a bit embarrassed!

After signing the marriage certificate to Ellie Goulding’s How Long Will I Love You and Your Song, we retreated to the grounds where Frank Vlahos worked his magic on our photography. We couldn’t recommend Frank enough and plan to use him for all our future events.

Sean was in charge of choosing our entrance song into the Reception. He’s a huge Manchester United supporter so he chose their theme song. It got a lot a few laughs which set the fun, relaxed mood for the evening.

The reception was held in the Ballroom where our stylist Jess from Sassafrass Flower Design really brought our vision to life. Rustic elements of wood slices and burlap met the vintage charm of blue mason jars and crystal decanters. Jess also created our candy bar which was a big hit!

We also paid homage to my Polish heritage with a few vodka shots throughout the night. Let’s just say the Poles really know how to party!

We danced to Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars for our first dance – a song my husband chose as it was released the year we started dating.

Eighteen months of hard work and planning really paid off. Our wedding day was perfect, and everything went according to plan. The only negative is the day passed far too quickly!

Ms Gingham says: What a beautiful wedding! I just love that headpiece! Thankyou for sharing your day with us today Katherine and Sean.

Katherine says: “I’m 23 and married to my partner of eight years, Sean. We  planned a vintage wedding with a rustic twist which was held in The Dandenongs in 2014.”
