Gemma and Tom’s chic country orchard wedding was held at Collins Bros Orchard and featured a handmade bridal arch, three wedding cakes and a ceremony amongst the apple trees – we love every single moment! Aimee Claire Weddings captured the beauty of this Western Australian wedding.
The groom chose an MJ Bale suit for their use of 100% Australian merino wool, with Gemma explaining, ”Tom wanted to stand out from the groomsman who wore black, so he chose a navy suit, white shirt and light pink tie.”
The bride was looking for a classic gown and says that Alvin at Ae’lkemi created exactly what she wanted. ”The whole process from design through to fittings was seamless, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!”
Wanting to find a location that was more than just a venue, Gemma and Tom chose a spectacular spot that held sentimental value to themselves and their family. ”We were married at Collins Bros Orchards which is a fourth generation apple orchard owned by Tom, his brothers and his Dad. The farm was established in 1906 by Tom’s Great Grandfather.” Of the rustic handmade archway built by Tom and his groomsmen, Gemma explains Paula McKennay Freelance Florist was able to make use of Tom’s Mum’s country flower garden, foraging for foliage and blooms to decorate the wooden structure.
Michelle Cooke was the officiant for Gemma and Tom’s wedding.”We wanted the ceremony to be relaxed and not too serious! We didn’t have any specific readings but we did write our own vows.” The bride walked down the apple orchard aisle to ‘Wings’ by Birdy.
Gemma and Tom were wanting a relaxed day and were thrilled with how Aimee Claire Weddings captured it, remarking, ”Aimee was amazing. Tom and I aren’t really people that want to jump in front of a camera but she made us feel relaxed and at ease. I recommend her constantly to newlyweds!”
Continuing to make the most of their stunning country views and family owned orchard, Gemma says, ”We had the ceremony amongst the apple trees and then the reception in a marquee overlooking the farm.”
Having a wedding planner in your immediate family is a sure fire way to guarantee chic and lush reception decor, and Gemma’s sister, Lauren, came up trumps! ”Lauren at The Style Est. and I did all the setting up on the day, along with the lighting and table settings.”
The bride was thrilled with Pip from Bridgetown Pottery Restaurant and happily shares,”The food was amazing and guests are still raving about it! I don’t know how she managed to cook delicious food for 120 people in the middle of a paddock with virtually no facilities!”
Displaying not one but three delicious wedding cakes from Cherish the Cake showed that Gemma and Tom were serious about food being a priority! ”One of our weddings cakes was Limoncello flavour and we also had a Hugo (Italian aperitif) as the welcome drink to the reception.”
And having tossed up whether to book a venue or to hold their reception on the country farm, Gemma and Tom were glad they persevered. ”We had a cocktail entrée so that people could mingle then a sit down dinner and wedding cake for dessert. We didn’t do your traditional bridal table as we wanted to be amongst the party! We had our table amongst everyone else’s and we also had the bridal parties partners sit with us as they are as much a part of our lives!”
