Kelsie & Ryan

Sometimes we just have to pare it all back and today’s simply sweet elopement is all about the warm fuzzies, the truth of it all, the main game, the point. Captured beautifully by Sophie Baker, Kelsie and Ryan have so many family and friends far away, that they decided that eloping was how they wanted to celebrate. With vows under the dappled light of a beautiful tree, I don’t think the end result could have been more beautiful.

Kelsie fills us in on how the couple came to be. “We met through mutual friends just after Christmas on a day trip to Byron Bay to visit Ryan. Upon first meeting, I thought he was quite arrogant as I had to introduce myself to him and he seemed to ignore me. He claims he was so in awe that he became shy and became lost for words. (Which anyone who knows Ryan, is a hard feat!!) It took him a couple more hours to strike up a conversation but from then on we became inseparable.”

The couple married at their home. “We live on 20 acres and utilised our locations around the property in the rainforest and the beach. Every moment of the day held its own special story but due to the simplicity of our approach to this and our lifestyle we decided to embrace our animals and nature” explained the bride. Continuing “We own four dogs and it was just fantastic to watch their excitement as they knew something special was happening.”

Kelsie was six months pregnant on the wedding day, choosing a wrap gown from Coralie Beatrix as her wedding dress. She tells “I bought my wedding dress from Coralie Beatrix on Etsy. Being 6 months pregnant I needed a dress that was going to have the ability to grow with my belly as I didn’t know what size I was going to be on the day. The dress had the most beautiful flow and showed off my bump perfectly.”

The couple chose to see each other before the ceremony, Kelsie telling of her favourite photo “It’s almost impossible to choose just one as they are all so amazing but some of my most favourites are of our first look and of our ceremony, specifically during the vows as Sophie captured the emotion so perfectly.”

Kelsie loved “The lack of planning required!! Being a simple elopement at home there wasn’t much to organise. We picked the date, locked in our photographer and chose our outfits….completely stress-free!”

Glenda Kosters officiated the ceremony, tells Kelsie. “Our ceremony was personal and romantic. It felt very intimate and sacred. We finished with a reading – Love is a Temporary Madness, from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.”

Of their photographer, Kelsie remarks “Sophie Baker was just the best. She was so professional and easy going and we could not be more thrilled with our photos. They are so natural and captured our day perfectly. She truly is a gem and would recommend her to everyone!”

To complement her gown, the bride chose a bouquet from Nash and Willow, noting “I bought my bouquet from Nash and Willow on Etsy. It was so realistic and the best part is I can keep them forever!”

Congratulations on your marriage Kelsie and Ryan! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day with us! Thank you also to Sophie Baker for sharing today’s beautiful elopement!
