Natika & Boyd

If there is one thing we love around these parts, it’s a beautiful love story. But combine a beautiful love story with a gown that has us dreaming and gushing – well you know it is going to be one to remember.

With a blush wedding gown and stunning photographs by Capture The Moment Photography in this real wedding, all that is really left to do is to grab a cup of your favourite something and settle in to enjoy!

Natika and Boyd met one night out many years ago, the bride reminiscing, “We met at a nightclub about eight years ago, kept in touch and then eventually starting dating.
On the day he proposed, Boyd took me for a walk on the beach, then cooked me breakfast, then told me to have a lie-down and he will clean everything up (oh my). I was reading a book when he came in with our fur baby Luna and had the ring in his hand and he told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and said, ‘Will you marry me?’ He wanted to propose with the two things he loved most… Luna and I.
The thing I loved most is that we were in our little home we built together. I cried, like really ugly cried for at least an hour…or two.”

The bride chose a beautiful pale pink gown from Jadore that she found at Event Time. She tells, “I wore a blush tulle gown and matching veil by Jadore Evening. I found it incredibly hard to decide on the perfect gown. I owned a wedding gown store so I constantly saw new designs. My plan was to have one white gown for the ceremony and then the blush for the reception. But every time I tried the blush gown on I knew it was for me. I loved how it wasn’t too out there but still unique and suited my personality. My husband loved it and was very proud of me for being a little different.

My gorgeous maid of honour also wore a blush lace gown by Jadore Evening. The shade was the same as my flower detailing on my gown. There were some adjustments made to the front as I loved the look of showing off the rose gold heels.”

Shannon Hawkes styled the beautiful floral details on the day says the bride. “I wanted something eye-catching but also subtle enough to suit a blush gown with purple/white detailing”.

The couple chose waterside Rosslyn Bay Resort for their wedding, with their ceremony on the rooftop overlooking the sea. Natika remarks, “I really wanted to have our wedding local. Being in the wedding industry, I felt it was important to use all of our amazing local suppliers. We wanted to be near the beach, not so much on the sand but to have that as our backdrop.”

Of their ceremony, Natika remarks, “I liked that our ceremony was relaxed, lots of laughter and personal jokes.”

“We loved seeing how happy both of our families were and being surrounded by all of the people we loved most.”

Sweet treats were a focal point for the bride who wanted both a wedding cake (beautifully created by Flour Yeppoon) and doughnuts. “Our cake was red velvet, the naked white icing look, with caramel drizzled over it; it was made by a gorgeous local cafe called Flour. We also had glazed doughnuts for another alternative. Everyone loved these.” The newlyweds used a family heirloom cake knife to cut their cake together, and this nod to family also included Natika’s parents’ wedding cake topper on the cake itself.

Guests took home handmade pink candles as wedding favours.

The bride and groom worked with planners Lilly and Lotus to plan and style their day. Natika notes, “I was huge on the decor of the wedding. I had an amazing stylist who understood my vision from the start and that made me extremely happy to see it all come together. I also wanted my guests to enjoy a grazing station and a glass of champagne after the ceremony to celebrate.”

There were special speeches and special gifts says the bride. “My mother knitted the most amazing blanket that had our families’ traditional colours, backgrounds and heritage for the two last names ‘Garden’ and ‘Watts’. Lots of tears!”

Guests celebrated the newlyweds with a gorgeous cocktail reception. Natika explains, “I wanted a big open plan wedding, lots of fresh air, candles and fairy lights. I always loved the thought of a cocktail wedding; very relaxed but still classy. I wanted everyone to mingle and dance. I did have a little trouble deciding on colours, but my amazing florist and our planner helped bring my visions together. I am a sucker for pink!”

Natika remembers, “Boyd and I just sat on the ground at the end of the night (still in my big puffy dress) and just ate our doughnuts and talked about the day.”

A big congratulations on your marriage Natika and Boyd! Thank you so much for allowing us to share your day. Thank you to Capture The Moment Photography for sharing today’s wedding with us.
