Move over Paris, New York and Venice, Montenegro has stolen our hearts! Montenegro has approximately 290km of unspoilt beaches and around 250 days of sunshine a year. The Adriatic Sea and the historic architecture against the rugged mountains are enough to make us never want to come home. Explore this hidden gem on your honeymoon before the secret gets out!

What to see:
Fortifictions of Kotor
Visit the ancient city of Kotor, the oldest town in Montenegro. Within a natural fiord of the Adriatic Sea you’ll find the Fortifications of Kotor. The fortifications reflect military architecture from Venice, Austria, Illyria and Byzantium, and were used to protect the town. The hike is not easy but the views are worth it! Even if you can’t make it to the top you’ll still have some great opportunities for photos.

Tara Canyon
Nature lovers wont want to miss Montenegro’s Tara Canyon. Tara Canyon is the second deepest canyon in the world, with the USA’s Grand Canyon at number one. Whether you’re both into rafting, hiking or zip lining, there is plenty for you and your partner to do and see at this natural beauty!

Porto Montenegro
Porto Montenegro is like something you might see in Monaco or along the French Riviera. If you have a taste for all things fine and classy, spend the day in Porto Montenegro. Taste some of the amazing food on offer in restaurants, slip into a new outfit you might buy at one of the local stores and watch the sunset over the beautiful landscape.
Where to eat
Stari Mlini Restaurant
Stari Mlini Restaurant prides itself on having all local produce and 300 year old culinary methods. You’ll find this gem in the picturesque town of Kotor, capitalising on the rugged mountains and the beautiful seaside. For four decades the restaurant has offered a fine dining experience and has built a reputation for a delicious Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant operated as a family owned flour mill in the 1700s and still has some of this charm today and not to mention some additional finer perks… like the option to arrive by sea and use the yacht docking facilities!
Conte Restaurant
For an outdoor or indoor dining experience visit Conte Restaurant, located within the Conte Hotel. Serving a range of dishes including pastas, risottos, meat and fish, you’ll be falling in love all over again but this time with food!

Ms Zigzag says: Montenegro sounds and looks like a honeymooner’s dream come true. I know of a few people who have holidayed there once, and now make the voyage once a year, so it must be magical!
