I think what most sums up Meredith Bedford Photography’s style is this: “I am always looking for creative ways to use natural light and the surrounding environment to add colour, shapes and detail to your images.” Meredith brings to her photography a graphic designer’s eye for detail, so your images become, in effect, works of art. With an engagement session being included in each package, Meredith takes great care to get to know you and produce the best quality work that reflects who you are.
We asked Meredith of Meredith Bedford Photography five questions in five minutes:
What is your favourite reward after a big working day?
To be honest with you – sleep! There’s not much better than crawling into bed exhausted but satisfied with your day. I would most likely come home and wind down with a mug of hot Milo first, and sometimes if I’m particularly excited I will jump on the computer no matter what time, and take a quick peek at the images. Though generally, that is my reward for the following day. Looking through all the images and getting started on the editing. I love looking back on the day and reliving all the little moments, and picking out my favourite images!
Your favourite weekend getaway?
I love to travel, and anywhere is good! I can find places to explore no matter where you put me, but a couple favourites that spring to mind is Warburton and Apollo Bay, Victoria. Warburton is a great little town in the Yarra Valley. It’s got a string of cute little shops, restaurants and cafes including a lolly shop where you’ll have plenty to give you a blast from the past! There is also the most amazing place in East Warburton called Redwood Forest, full of towering Californian Redwood trees. It’s perfect for beautiful and interesting photography, and I’ve even seen a few weddings held there!
What is your most prized possession?
This is an interesting question! I have a few possessions that are extra special to me, like my teddybear from childhood. It’s not important in the every day but there are so many memories and emotions attached to it, which makes the possession itself special. But I think at the end of the day, family and friends are the most important things in my life. It’s important, especially in my choice of career, that you have a few people around you to support and believe in you no matter what.
Living in Melbourne, the choices are endless! I honestly don’t think I can pick just one. I love to try new places! Instead of a favourite restaurant, I can definitely pick favourites cuisines that I most often return to including Thai, Greek, Italian and Vietnamese.
What do you enjoy most about being in the wedding industry?
I enjoy seeing two people in love! Choosing to celebrate and cement their love in front of family and friends. To witness their joy and happiness is truly priceless. I also love being able to capture all these moments as creatively and honestly as I can. It’s such a beautiful thing! I think this is why my style of photography is as vibrant and colourful as I can make it – because I feel that this is a true representation of the happiness I see in front of me. I love that I have the privilege to capture images that will go into history, and can be passed down from generation to generation. That’s an amazing thing to be able to contribute to people’s lives!
