Emma & Ben

Emma and Ben planned their modern boho Swan Valley wedding with such stunning details, we have fallen head over heels in love with it all! From the flower laden arbour to the burgundy velvet suit jackets and everything in between, we can’t wait to show you more.  Woodvine + Co captured the day.

The bride and groom met at a wellness seminar, making things official after a little Facebook stalking! Ben proposed to Emma overseas, with the bride sharing, ”We went on a month long trip to the United States. Ben knew New York was my favorite place so it seemed fitting to propose there. We went out on row boats in Central Park and while looking over the edge for snapping turtles I turned back to see Ben on one knee.”

It was a team effort to bring Emma’s dream wedding dress to life! She tells, ”I knew I wanted a couture style dress. I found exactly what I wanted for the bottom half and had the top half altered as I wanted straps and a see through mesh part between the front. The ladies at Bridal By Aubrey Rose went above and beyond for me as the owner Karen got in touch with Peter Trends and organised the right underlay colour and even extra lace. My alterations lady Sharon had the same vision for what I was wanting and made it come to life.” The groom and groomsmen wanted to make an impression, as Emma shares, ”Ben’s a bit quirky and likes to be the classroom clown. I knew for his suit he would want to stand out so we went for a burgundy velvet suit jacket from Politix, bow tie, chinos and black velvet loafers.”

With a stunning arbour, handmade by the groom, the ceremony was held outside on a beautiful day. The bride tells, ”I had my sister, Kendall, as my Matron of honor and my best friend of 17 years Melissah as my bridesmaid. Ben had his best friend Jose as his best man and twin brother Michael as his groomsman. We had a family friend do a recording of Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ for walking down the aisle.”

Emma incorporated some very special elements into her bouquet, telling, ”I had some of my Great Aunt’s lace used around my bouquet as she wasn’t well enough to be there on the day. On the lace I had 3 little tags with the initials T (for my Uncle Tony) B (for my Nanna Betty) and an R (for my Granddad Raymond) who sadly passed away. I felt like I had a little bit of them with me.”

Searching for a venue which they would fall in love with, the bride and groom came across one that ticked all their boxes. Emma tells, ”We were after a rustic, vintage, relaxed and magical venue. We found all that and more in Barrett Lane.” For the decorations, the couple chose to work with Botanica Naturalis. The bride shares, ”I wanted lots of wildflowers. When I first saw Anna’s work I knew she was the perfect fit to make my flower dreams come true. I gave her free reign and couldn’t have been happier with the final pieces.”

Styling the tables to perfection, Emma and Ben added in their own touches to the day. The bride tells, ”We did quite a few DIY’s to keep costs low. Ben built our triangle arbour (the florals on it are amazing!), and I made all our wedding invites, place tags, menus, bonbonnieres and styled our tables and reception.” The arbour from the ceremony was brought to the reception. Of their first dance, Emma recalls, ”We didn’t take any lessons and just winged it. We danced to Jack Garrat’s ‘Weathered’. We loved how it starts off slow then begins to get a bit more into it as the song progresses.”

Thank you to Emma and Ben for sharing your stunning wedding day, and congratulations! Thank you to Woodvine + Co for your beautiful photographs.
