Proposal stories are some of our favourite stories! If you can’t stop sharing how your beloved asked you to be their’s forever, why not add your story to your decor? I love an easy DIY, and this is exceptionally easy! A beautiful way to spread the love, with a sneaky wee DIY for a foliage chandelier thrown in!

If you’ve got large blank spaces you’re keen to cover at your engagement party or wedding soiree, this is a simple and minimalistic way to do that, with a lot of heart thrown in. Hang the paper horizontally or in lovely big sheets vertically, adding texture and interest to the room.

What You Will Need:

  • Strips of paper – I’ve used paper rolls from Ikea
  • Fine tipped marker pens
  • Double sided tape
  • If you’re keen for a sneaky foliage chandelier DIY, grab some chicken wire, cable ties, secateurs and an armful of hardy foliage!

Step 1. To keep the edges textural, gently tear the paper to the size you have determined you will need. It may help to write out your story beforehand, so you are simply copying as you go. Don’t be concerned if you feel your handwriting isn’t good enough, if you keep it all the same size and avoid punctuation, you’ll look like a pro!

Step 2. Leave approximately 5-10 centimeters around the outside of your paper, and keep the lines of text spread evenly. Once you have completed your love story wall hanging, use double sided tape to attach it to the wall (being mindful of the surface).

Black and white works well to keep the design simple and fuss free. Brown paper and white markers also look brilliant, and if you make a mistake, you can either write ‘oops’ and continue, or simply start again! If you’re keen to craft some gorgeous foliage chandeliers, scrunch together a large ball of chicken wire and secure with cable ties. Secure it (very firmly!) to the ceiling, and begin popping in branches, ensuring each is secure. Easy peasy!
