Stephanie & Jonathan

I am not afraid to say it but give me a taco from a food truck and I’ll pretty much be your best friend. So when Stephanie and Jonathan tied the knot and invited a bunch of their favourite food vans along for the ride, well you can bet I was all over it. Stephanie and Jonathan planned a day that was about them – their faith is important, so they tied the knot in a church, they celebrated at a farm, they served up a feast of Vietnamese street food and burgers and they made it their own. Bec Matheson came along the ride capturing every single beautiful moment.

It was a beautiful new beginning for the pair, who met at church and had a very much “love at first sight” moment. They remember “We met on a dating site called Christian Connection. Stephanie signed up for a month only and we hit it off straight away. Stephanie knew from the first time she saw Jonathan that she was going to marry him.

The groom wanted something different, choosing pieces from Bossini Menswear, YD and Roger David.

Stephanie found her gorgeous Essence Of Australia gown at Fairytales Bridal Boutique. “My gown was champagne in colour, soft fish tail silhouette with lace.” She tells “I  wanted straps as I don’t feel comfortable with strapless dresses, and I loved that it had a discreet low back to it without making me feel exposed. I chose this dress because it suited my shape and the colour complimented m skin tone.” She finished her look with her great grandmother’s beautiful, seventy-year-old necklace.

The bride chose Elvis Presley’s’ ‘Can’t help falling in love with you” sung by Haley Reinhart to play as she walked down the aisle.

The groom’s sister painted signs that decorated the aisle. “Jonathan’s sister, Ivanka painted the signs that were placed along the aisle at the ceremony. They were parts of the passage from 1 Corinthians: 13.”

Religion is important to these two, so they chose Rowville Baptist Church for their ceremony, sharing “We wanted our Ceremony to be faith-based one, as we both have a strong faith. We wanted it to be joyful and an opportunity for all our friends and family to come along and join us as we got married. We had worship music, a small talk from our celebrant, prayer and a reading from Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12.”

Of their photographer, the newlyweds rave “Bec Matheson Photography is amazing! We loved her work and wanted her at our wedding for a while. Jonathan knew Bec from previous projects and we can’t imagine our day being captured by anyone else!”

And the reception? The sun set and it was time for a celebration! The couple enlisted the help of wedding planners Here Comes The Truck to plan their dream reception at Country Heart. Stephanie explaining “We had our reception in an aircraft hangar on a farm in the Yarra Valley, where we had long tables with mismatched timber chairs, burlap and lace table runners, with native billy buttons and on each table. Decorations included hanging greenery above the tables, Turkish rugs and lawn games for guests to enjoy throughout the night.”

And sage advice from these two? “Some would say the wedding is not for the couple, but for your guests. But we say it’s about making the day yours and making sure everything that takes place represents who you both are.”

With help from Here Comes The Truck, Stephanie and Jonathan’s guests enjoyed a food truck feast catered by Mr Burger and Nuoc Mama’s. “The guys at Here Comes the Truck was outstanding. They planned every step of the way with us and made the day so smooth” tells Stephanie.

The newlyweds ended (or rather began) their night with a first dance to Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up”.

The finishing touch? A film of the day captured by the crew at Jar Of Memories.

A big congratulations to you both Stephanie and Jonathan! Thank you to both you and photographer  Bec Matheson for sharing today’s stunner of a celebration!
