Tassie’s long autumn days and mild summers make it among the best places in the world for grape growing and wine making! With so many beautiful local offerings, it’s difficult to know where to start when choosing the wines for your wedding. What goes with what? And what will please all your guests tastes and palates? Luckily the experts at Hobart’s iconic and must-visit The Glass House are here to help you navigate through the options with their top 5 picks for incredible local Tasmanian crowd pleasers.

1. 2013 Cash & Co Brut Cuvee
Why do we love it? Produced by one of Tasmania’s most knowledgeable & charismatic sommeliers Joseph Burton, the label is designed by a local Tasmanian artist Luke Wagner – very Tasmanian!

Pair it with: Ponzu oysters, pickled ginger, yuzu pearls, chives.

2. 2018 Mewstone Riesling
Why do we love it? The winemaker won the national 2018 young gun winemaker of the year! It is a very small Tasmanian vineyard and their wine has great exotic and unique notes which are very different to any other Tasmania wines.
Pair it with: Octopus, blistered tomatoes, moghrabieh, saffron rouille.

3. 2018 Gala Estate Pinot Gris
Why do we love it? Easy drinking Pinot Gris, its a real people pleaser and from one of the most picturesque vineyards in the East Coast of Tasmania.
Pair it with: Roast pumpkin, smoked stracciatella, sage, walnut, burnt butter.

4. 2017 Utzinger Pinot Noir

Why do we love it? Made by a young extremely humble couple who only a few years ago moved to Tasmania, it’s their first ever vintage and already this wine has gained a lot of attention. It is one of our faves!
Pair it with: Wild clover lamb rump, heirloom beetroot, feta.

5. 2017 Stefano Lubiana Syrah
Why do we love it? One of Tasmanian most well know vineyards, it has big fruit notes with a nice bit of spice but a clean finish.
Pair it with: Slow cooked cape grim beef cheek, brassica leaves, polenta.

Ms Zebra Says: Tasmanian wines are not only proving themselves in Australia, but internationally too. There’s so many great ones to choose from, so it’s a great way to include them at your wedding!
