Steph & Kyle

For Steph and Kyle, there may have been last minute changes of plans, there may have been rain, there may have been endless little things that went wrong. But for these two, it ultimately didn’t matter because every time something went wrong, it helped them both focus on what was ultimately important – marrying each other and celebrating with their favourite people. As the bride says “So much on the day didn’t go as planned but I just didn’t care. I was marrying the love of my life and I just wanted to enjoy the day with family and friends.”

And enjoy they did!  From a beautiful indoor (thanks Mother Nature) ceremony to an urban reception by the water, warehouse venue Cargo Hall, the end result, as evidenced by every photograph by Darin Collinson Photography could not have been more momentous!

These two first laid eyes on another through Steph’s work five years ago. “Didn’t think that first meeting would lead us here!” she says, telling the story of how Kyle ultimately popped the question. “Kyle took me on a surprise trip down to Williamstown pier for some ice cream which turned into a marriage proposal. Nice and simple. If Kyle was to try and plan something elaborate I would know something was up!”

It was love at first sight for Steph and her Karen Willis Holmes gown. She remembers “I wanted a dress that was simple but elegant and found the dress I wanted straight away. Didn’t need to try anything else on. I loved every part of the dress and wouldn’t have changed a thing.”

With a forecast for rain, Steph and Kyle moved their wedding inside to the Eastern Transit Room, Royal Botanic Gardens. “Changing the ceremony venue to indoors the day before was the biggest and best decision that we made” remembers the bride.

The bride walked down the aisle, hand in hand with her mother.

Not every guest at this day was in the room, notes Steph. “One of the highlights of my day was being able to FaceTime with my godmother who unfortunately was away overseas in China. She was able to see the entire ceremony from the other side of the world! I was definitely emotional speaking to my godmother – first and only time I cried the entire day. It was completely unexpected and overwhelming.”

“There was not a favourite part, to be honest,” says Steph. “Everything felt like a battle so we just enjoyed those small wins.”

Waterside venue Cargo Hall was just the place these two wanted for their reception, the bride sharing “We want a venue that didn’t feel like a standard reception venue and close to the city for ease for the travelling guests from interstate. Cargo Hall was a no brainer for us!

Guests were welcomed to the reception with beautiful cocktails and a delicious grazing table. “I am glad that we organised spirits for our guests (they loved them) and also thank you to Gavin our bartender, the cocktails were a massive hit!”

These two had a real vision for simplicity for the day. “We wanted a simple/neutral design of grey, white and pink with grey linen used and grey bridesmaids’ dresses. White and native flowers in bouquets and white bud flowers on the reception tables (and pink highlights through menus) which complimented our wedding invites.”

A night of merriment, of speeches, of love, of dancing, was just what these two needed to begin the next stage of life together.

A big congratulations to you both Steph and Kyle! A big thank you for sharing your day. Thank you to
