Jade and Aaron

Jade and Aaron created the ultimate fun filled rustic themed wedding day. Surrounded by loved ones, they didn’t stop laughing or smiling all day long. In keeping with the fun vibe, they included some wonderful unique elements in their day, and even had flower crowns made for some of the animals.

Jade braved the muddy field in heels so together they could feed and pat the donkeys carrots, although the donkeys seemed a lot more interested in the delicious looking bouquet she was carrying! – Brisbane City Celebrants

How we met

I had recently retired from playing professional hockey and always wanted to race Ironman so I entered a race and started following the crowd on social media which resulted in us meeting through mutual friends that were racing and training for the Half Ironman.

The very first time we met in person was at a race and I was completely snobbed by Aaron however he quickly crawled his way back.

The Engagement

We reside in Brisbane and my wonderful then boyfriend flew us to Sydney to race the Sydney Moring Herald Half Marathon, with zero training and prep!

The colourful language that was being said at the 16km mark was not so pleasant – poor Aaron had to run the whole 21kms smiling as he knew the reason we were going through this pain.

The race finished and all I wanted to do was curl up in a corner and sleep but no I had to get all glammed up and head over to Manly to deliver what turned out to be a ‘fake present’ to a family friend.

We were apparently early for this friend so we went to our favourite spot at Freshwater. The funniest thing is I had to jump over boulders and rocks out to the edge of this hill side in high heels and a dress. We were standing there looking out over the ocean and then I turn around and Aaron is on one knee. I was in complete shock and asked if it was mine (the ring that is) haha! and of course I said YES!

We choose Loren from Tall Timber Studio to capture our day, we wanted someone who was down to earth and was able to capture our day in a laid back kind of way, which she was perfect for!

Attire

My bridesmaids dressed in Zimmerman French Navy Dresses and the groom and groomsmen were dressed by M.J Bale.

When it came to choosing my wedding dress, I actually had no idea what style to go for as there are so many beautiful gowns, and when I tried on my strapless lace Pronovias Princia gown from Marry Me Bridal it made me feel special so I knew it was the one.

For my bouquet I opted for a tear drop bouquet with gorgeous peonies and tulips. It was very unstructured and super whimsical.

The Wedding

Our wedding took place at the picturesque Preston Peak Wines in Toowoomba. Our ceremony took place beneath a gorgeous arch that we made ourselves and was overlooking the Toowoomba Range.

Our Celebrant Jamie Eastgate of Brisbane City Celebrants was just amazing! Everyone loved the ceremony and how it was so Aaron and I. Pre-wedding Jamie was fantastic and available for any questions or help we required.

After our ceremony our bridal party joined us for a walk around the grounds where we played with the donkeys and patted horses.

The celebrations continued at Preston Peak Wines with an elegant rustic vibe. Aaron and I created all the decorations for our special day ourselves, and we enjoyed making the rustic style décor so much, we decided to set up our own styling business, Fred and Ruby.

Guests enjoyed a sit down alternate drop menu. The food was absolutely stunning, with tempura prawns, pork belly, gorgeous macadamia crusted lamb, riverina eye fillet steak and the most divine wedding cake plated with French desserts as an addition.

Instead of bonbonniere we had a lolly bar filled with amazing sweets mini Nutella jars and mason jars instead of lolly bags.

The whole day and lead up was so memorable it was all so so special. My wedding day advice is just stop and take it all in. Do not feel like you have to rush anything – it is your day.
