To trim or not to trim, that is the question! Usually a haircut is no big deal. Book it in whenever and get the job done. But when it comes to your wedding day, that haircut is going to be memorialised forever in the form of your wedding photos, not to mention the memories of your significant other as they walk down the aisle and lock eyes on you for the first time.
So many things to think of: timing, length, style, colour. And so many ways to go wrong! I recently attended the newly opened Kings Domain Barber in Melbourne where a Kings Domain spokesperson told me that during wedding season they have “pretty much a constant stream of guys wanting to look the best they can for the big day”. As for what’s hot in hair right now, the Kings Domain team says the classics are the most common requests.
“We really do get a bit of everything but I guess it’s the classics that most people want: clean and sharp. A lot of guys are coming in for tailored facial hair – neat beards and cut throat on the cheeks and neck.”
It’s amazing the difference a professional barber can have to your overall look. It’s the little things like the pre-cut conversation, which leaves you feeling as comfortable as the razor does is at work and the extra attention to detail ensuring that you leave without a hair out of place.

Groom tips from the Kings Domain team
Practice makes perfect
“If you’re not already a regular, come in for at least three haircuts with the same person before the wedding cut – so the barber has time to get to know you, what you like, what you don’t like and what will work best with your hair type.”
Hot shave? Don’t come in cold
“If you are going to get a hot towel shave on the big day, then come and get one a week or two before to make sure you don’t have any reaction to the blade.”
What to ask for when you don’t know what you want:
“A classic cut, worn with a bit of natural texture, not too short either.”
