Kimberley & Shane

We love an elopement around these parts and for Kimberley and Shane, there was something magic about how paired back, how minimalist their day was. In fact, for these two, their small guest list almost wasn’t invited at all. “We planned our wedding in one day once we got a date back from the photographer, “explains Kimberley. “I booked everything – it was a small wedding as it was going to be an elopement, but our friends and family found out”. So with just fifteen guests in tow, Kimberley and Shane made their way to Shane’s mother’s mango farm for a gorgeous, tropical ceremony that made the most of their own personal style.

They invited Elk and Fir along for the ride, Carissa documenting every single moment of the intimate celebration.

The pair met when they were seventeen through mutual friends, but it was not until their paths crossed again that these two really hit it off. A weekend away in Byron bay turning out to be just the right moment for Shane to  bring up the subject. Kimberley shares “We were away in Byron, Shane said ‘I really want you to be my wife’ so we made it happen, we didn’t get engaged as we both have done that before and wanted this to be different. So to symbolise it we had an engagement shoot when we got home, with Elk and Fir.” That shoot? see it in full over here.

The bride chose a chic gown by designer Natalie Rolt. “I’ve never been into wedding dresses or step foot in a bridal store. I just wanted something elegant that didn’t take anything away from me” she shares. She added a gold hairpiece by Viktoria Novak to finish the look.

Kimberley asked her bridesmaids to wear their favourite black dress, Shane and his goromsmen choosing linen pieces to make the November heat bearable.

Kimberley and Shane married on the groom’s mother’s mango farm just outside of Rockhampton overlooking the Berserker Ranges.

The ceremony was kept simple. “We skipped a lot as it was more of an elopement” explains the bride. “Everything we wanted we got as we had the money to with having a small elopement it didn’t come with all the extra cost that a big wedding does.”

Tells the bride “Our favourite part was having our loved ones all there and being small it was so intimate we both enjoyed our day. Our family and friends had a wonderful time.”

Lilly and Lotus created the simple floral details for the day. Kimberley sharing “I never had a style in mind I just knew of some simple things I wanted. To be honest, it wasn’t until I stood at the end of the aisle I was like “well that looks amazing” and it all came together.”

In keeping with their low key style, Kimberley and Shane celebrating their new status with an intimate dinner at Headricks Lane.

A big congratulations to you both Kimberley and Shane! Thank you for sharing the story of your wedding with us. Elk and Fir – thank you for sharing your beautiful images!
